Report of Stormer Activities on the Internet 1998

written by 0983 (Yukio Mase)

This report provides the overview of stormer activities seen on the Internet in the year 1998.

West End Games

For our great regret, Operation Shoemaker, the maneuver to ruin West End Games financially, was blocked by several stormers at its final stage.

As you know, WEG have the trademark "Kanawa Corporation," and published plenty books about the Possibility Wars. In the early days of the wars, we and WEG had kept good relations, to release the English version of Kanawa Personal Weapons Catalog for example. However, WEG have been apparently infiltrated by stormers since 1993, and they published notorious Tokyo Citybook to break our relation.

Operation Shoemaker was planned and directed by 3756 (Takehiko Kawakami). According to his plan, a series of financial maneuver would made the holding company of WEG decline, forcing WEG go bunkrupt. The plan seemed to success, and indeed it made almost successful. However, WEG escaped bunkruptcy at the very last stage of the operation, thanks to unnamed stormers. 3756 committed suicide just after 3327 got reported.

At the point of December 1998, though WEG have been weakened severely, they are on their business. It is the worst news for us that they have set up their own WWW site, http://www.westendgames.org/, to distribute The Infiniverse Newsletter in the electrical format, which contains crucial Realm Update information. In addition they began 60%-off sales of their products including Tokyo Citybook.

To impede their activity, we are now conducting several minor plans. First, causing printing problem to postpone the release of WEG's new product, Demon Invasion. Second, causing confusion during WWW page maintenance to make mistakes on 60%-off sales advertise. Third, manipulating LucasFilm to terminate the license for StarWars RPG. However, more effective methods are needed.

Independent Stormers

As the WWW get massive popularity in the world, more and more stormers begin to exchange information on WWW pages. Checking such WWW page may give you crucial information about other realms. On the other hand, it can be a serious threat for our achieving the power through enclosing information in the near future. We must carefully watch the WWW pages established by stormers. Here is some of useful/potentially dangerous WWW pages.

Kansas Jim

Supposed to be the most dangerous subject. His WWW page, The Storm Has Name, containing FAQ list, rule variant and other miscellaneous stuffs, is a real threat to us. We should eradicate him before he completes the 2nd edition rulebook.

K. Phillip Skyles

Another serious threat to our business. We should consider to crack his site and erase the timeline information on his Worldgate page.

Doug Dawson

Not a major threat, but you should keep an eye on Doug Dawson's TORG site to see what stormers are doing in their campaign.

Tim Bailey

There are stories and stormer stats you should study, on Tim Bailey's TORG site

Joe Behrmann

Many reference charts, rule variants, collection of Ayslish spells and much more. This Behrmann's TORG site should be considered potentially dangerous.

Dave Oakes

Dave Oakes' TORG page has several articles such as new drama deck cards and templates.

Torg Mailing List

Torg Mailing List, maintained by Stephen Smoogen, is the stormers' gathering point on the Internet. On the mailing list, stormers discuss about reality mechanics, adventure ideas, Torg-related news from all over the world, WEG products and upcoming Second Edition rules.

Infiltration into the list seems a good idea. See Kansas Jim's Torg FAQ List for the subscription.
